I think that the N word is bad and shouldn’t be used in hip hop due to it being ironic how it’s put into context referring to one another as slaves. I think that by yc the cynic is talking about staying loyal to family. The hook of yc the cynics songs differ to normal songs because he makes the word negus (meaning royalty) heard as nigga to play on the minds of the gullible who will automatically hear the word as Nigga instead of negus. How have the emcees we have studied in hip hop as a medium to discuss social issues. 1 point for this is that mick Jenkins uses satire to put his point about lynching. I think that mos Def chose to sample from gil-Scott heron because he was a very influential in the African American music scene, even though I style of hip hop Is different it follows the tradition of black music. This is due to the fact that American soul and jazz music was created by black tradition so by sampling from a music piece like that it keeps the roots of the music flowing between hip hop artists.
