“Get in, get out, don’t linger, go on” what Raymond means by this is that when writing a short story you shouldn’t release the whole story at the beginning, and when writing do not circle around the subject.

I know it sounds defensive, unscrupulous but it’s true” this makes the reader want to read on because you are questioning why people may think he’s a bad guy etc. “Nilda was my brothers girlfriend ” the information this gives is that the writer has a brother. “This is how all these stories begin” telling us that his many brother has had many girlfriends and that it often occurs. “Years later you would wonder If it had been for your brother would have done it” what’s been done? Was it good? Would I (the reader) have done it.  “What got me into this situation “.
